The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia (AHSGR) is an international organization dedicated to discovery, collection, preservation, and dissemination of information related to the history, cultural heritage, and genealogy of Germanic settlers in the Russian Empire, and their descendants. Founded in 1968, the Society became an international non-profit, educational organization, actively engaged in researching the history of all Germans from Russia. The society publishes historical and genealogical materials which are distributed throughout the year to its members. Members are encouraged to compile their own family history. Material available for members to research are family group files, obituary files, computerized genealogy and many items of genealogical nature in the library, such as church records, cemetery records, naturalization data, passenger lists, maps, family histories and census records. Recent acquisitions include census records from St. Petersburg, Russia; and Odessa, Ukraine.
